On Friday night, Jhonas Enroth and Henrik Karlsson combined to give the fans at First Niagara Center one of the best combined Goaltender performances that I've ever seen. Enroth and Karlsson faced a combined 74 shots on goal, and stopped a combined 71. Both goalies made phenomenal saves through out the game, but it was Enroth who won the battle, despite that I honestly think Karlsson was the better of the two. Drew Stafford opened the scoring, which was scarce, in the first, with a "slap-snipe" that went in the top right corner. It was Stafford's 4th with great assists from Andrej Sekera (3) and Derek Roy (4). Nathan Gerbe gave the Sabres a 2-0 advantage early in the 3rd on a funky goal. It looked as if Calgary was about to clear the puck from the zone, but Marc-Andre Gragnani held it in and passed to Gerbe, who was wide open with more than enough time. That would prove to be the difference maker seeing as Alex Tanguay brought the Flames to within one less than four minutes later. It was a goal Enroth could do nothing about, as it was deflected by Calgary's leader in goals before it reached Enroth. Calgary is my 2nd to favorite team, so I will honestly admit they played well, but not well enough. Their goaltender was amazing, he definitely held them in it.
Star of the Game: Henrik Karlsson.
