Today we start off the NHL Draft buzz by covering the top name in this year's draft, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. This year there is no Taylor vs. Tyler debate, and really as a whole the draft is thought of as being very weak this year. Nugent-Hopkins is the top ranked skater and most likely to be drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers.
Nugent-Hopkins is a Center for the Red Deer Rebels. He stands 6'2'' 153 lbs., so he's not a big kid at all. His first year of WHL hockey he played 67 games scoring 24goals and 41 assists. He won WHL rookie of the year honors.
Last year his totals went way up, netting 31 goals and 75 assists. He is expected to make the jump to the NHL right away, maybe playing for Edmonton with top wingers Jordan Eberle and as previously mentioned, Taylor Hall. He's said to have great vision and really understands the game of hockey. Don't expect him to fall anywhere near where the Sabres are picking, but remember this name. He could be big someday.
