Season Rerun: Nathan Gerbe

Today we'll review Nathan Gerbe's 2010-11:

The season started off slow for Gerbe. He didn't begin very well at all. He didn't score his first goal until his 21st game of the year. But the little guy awoke after that. Gerbe is only 5'5, but he is one of Buffalo's most hard nosed players. He is willing to bump people off the puck, he will go into the corners to win battles, and most importantly, HE SHOOTS THE PUCK! Tyler Ennis was a great rookie, but his one tragic flaw is that he spends too much time dicking around with the puck, which cause turn overs at the most inopportune times.

Gerbe had a total of 16 goals on the year, almost all of them were in the 2nd half of year. He had 15 assists, 31 points, and was a +11. And the Sabres benefited from his strong play. The Sabres lost only 1 game when Gerbe scored a goal. When he scored, they had 10 wins, and 2 OT/SO losses. How good was Gerbe this year? Good enough to break the Sabres record of the fastest 2 goals by the same player. 5 SECONDS APART!! He missed the NHL record by a second.

Gerbe may be short, but If I had to trust anyone with the Future of the Sabres, it would undoubtedly be him. My cousin made a joke that if the Lindy Ruff wanted to show most of the Sabres how to play smart hockey, he would sit them down with popcorn and watch Gerbe and Thomas Vanek play. Gerbe is a very smart player, and  the his teammates can learn from him.
Good Morning and thanks for reading!
Up Next: Tyler Myers.
